The country's first ethylene oxide manufacturer started with this plant in the ABC Petrochemical Hub, in Sao Paulo, in 1973. It was mainly intended for the manufacture of ethylene oxide, a petroleum derivative used in a wide variety of products: personal hygiene, food, paints, solvents and automobiles.

It has become an important site for the production of Ethylene Glycols, Glycol Ethers, Acetates, C4+C5 Alcohols, Ethoxylated Derivatives among others.
