Indorama Ventures Announces Eco-friendly Competition for Young Designers
Bangkok, Thailand, 13 October 2015: Under the theme ‘Life Is Play, Show Your Passion’, Indorama Ventures has kicked off its RECO Young Designers’ Competition aimed at creating designs utilizing recycled materials.
RECO is derived from the three Rs concept (reducing, reusing and recycling) and the word ECO and is the basis for the whole contest. The aim is to create awareness for the creative use of waste and used materials.
“As an industry leader, the company is committed to looking for ways to reduce and reuse waste from the industry.” said Mr. Richard Jones, Vice President of Indorama Ventures.
“This is an opportunity for Thai students from colleges and design institutes to show off their creativity in designing fashion and other products using recycled polyester or PET materials. Realizing the power and creative ideas of the younger generation, IVL initiated an idea to support college students and the new generation of designers to create fashion and product design using recycled PET and polyester. Moreover, IVL would like these designers for the environment to have a stage upon which they can present their work and build their career,” he added.
Ms. Aradhana Lohia, representing Indorama Ventures, said “This project aims not only to support young designers to unleash the power of their creative ideas, but also to encourage the new generation to strive to become design initiators themselves and to carry this inspiration on to the next generation. Hopefully, this will open the door for work that helps build and develop their career and lead to greater job opportunities in the future. Thus, this is a project that truly adds value to society.”
For this event, there will be a special talk about design trends with highly-regarded guests in the design industry who will also be the judges for the competition: Leng-Adisak Rojsiriphan, fashion designer & owner of Zenithorial; Jarupatara Archawasmith, Lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang; and Asst.
