On June 29, our PET plant (IVEM) in Jalisco, Mexico, celebrated World Environment Day with a reforestation event in collaboration with Bosque Urbano, an organization dedicated to cultivating trees for urban reforestation. The objective was to instill a sense of ownership among the 20 participants and their families, totaling 70 people, who planted 100 trees at the site.

The event featured Miguel Rodriguez, Director of Engagement, and Abigail Ruíz, Biologist, from Bosque Urbano, who shared insights on the urban footprint concept and the importance of reforestation.

Mary Carmen Rodriguez, Director of Operations at PET (IVEM), urged everyone to plant a tree at home, emphasizing how collective efforts in sustainable practices can reduce our carbon footprint. She also highlighted that this event contributes to our 2030 goals by participating in the circular economy. The event further supports several strategic aspects, including:

  1. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability: Environmental initiatives, such as reforestation, align with our CSR goals and demonstrate our commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible business practices.
  2. Stakeholder engagement:Involving employees and their families in these activities encourages a sense of pride, teamwork, and commitment within our workforce.
  3. Environmental impact:By planting 100 trees, we directly contribute to mitigating carbon emissions and enhancing local biodiversity, aligning with global sustainability targets.
  4. Community relations:Collaborating with organizations such as Bosque Urbano strengthens ties with local communities where we operate. This engagement builds trust and goodwill, potentially leading to enhanced community support for our operations.
  5. Long-term sustainability:Emphasizing practices such as reforestation demonstrates proactive measures to address environmental challenges and integrate sustainability into core business operations.
