Indorama Ventures together with IVL Foundation organized refresh recycling education at Bann Noenpayom school in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

Indorama Ventures and the IVL Foundation are collaborating to organize a refresh recycling education programme for primary and secondary students. The information sharing session covered issues such as waste types, plastic types, and how to correctly separate and manage garbage, as well as the PET recycling process, and following the training session, we had a game for them to recheck their understanding. To help students understand more about the 3Rs principle, we have organized a PET DIY session in which students will change PET bottles that have been consumed into purses and pencil cases. Students had a good time, and we hope they will use what they learned on a regular basis and share it with their friends and family.


Indorama Ventures hosted a recycling workshop at Sustainability Expo SX2024 at Kids Zone

Indorama Ventures’ CSR team hosted children in a fun and educational recycling workshop at Sustainability Expo SX2024 at Kids Zone. Paris 2024 Olympic silver weightlifting medalists ‘Fang’ Theerapong Silachai and ‘Wave’ Weeraphon Wichuma inspired children to create their own weightlifting dumbbells from PET bottles, followed by a basic strength-training session with the athletes.


Empowering Sustainable Practices at Don Bosco Technological College

The CSR team from Indorama Ventures was honored to be invited by Don Bosco Technological College to conduct a training session on waste separation and PET recycling. The session aimed to provide students, teachers, and staff with valuable knowledge about effective waste management, the benefits of proper waste sorting, and the importance of reusing materials to create a positive environmental impact.

Through this training, participants were encouraged to cultivate environmental awareness and apply the knowledge gained to their activities within the college. They were also inspired to extend these practices to their families and communities, fostering a broader culture of sustainability.

This impactful event welcomed the participation of over 200 teachers and students, demonstrating the college’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.


Going Green with Silpakorn University

The CSR and Sustainability teams collaborated with Silpakorn University’s Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Technology to conduct training sessions and knowledge-sharing activities focused on waste separation, PET recycling, and the circular economy on March 13 and 18 October 2024. This collaboration was part of the “Green ENTECH Green Campus” program, which promotes environmental responsibility and empowers students to drive change towards a more sustainable campus.

Through their active participation in separating and collecting PET bottles during the event, students collected an impressive 1,020 kilograms, which was subsequently sent for recycling at our facility in Nakhon Pathom. This effort culminated in a substantial reduction of 1 ton of CO2 emissions, underscoring the positive impact of their environmental stewardship. To provide students with a firsthand understanding of the PET recycling process and its contribution to the circular economy, they were taken on a visit to our recycling plant in Nakhon Pathom.


PET Youth Camp

Indorama Ventures collaborated with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Department of Education under the BMA to host the ‘PET Youth Camp for Sustainable Plastic Management’ program. The camp brought together 60 teachers and students from 20 BMA schools to engage in activities that foster young leadership in managing PET waste. Students learned about the different types of waste, plastics and recycling innovations. Moreover, they received training in communication and leadership skills so that they can lead to change in their schools and communities. Participants also had the opportunity to visit Wongpanit Suvarnabhumi Recycle Station to gain hands-on experience in waste management and PET recycling and learn about waste sorting and the value of PET waste. The ‘PET Youth Camp for Sustainable Plastic Management’ program is part of the second year of implementation of the Sustainable Plastic Waste Management project, which aims to reach 40,000 students at 337 BMA schools by 2026.


Indorama Ventures empowers Jorakay Corporation employees with insightful waste reduction training

Jorakay Corporation, a leading construction supplies company in Thailand, invited Indorama Ventures to organize an informative training session for its volunteer team on waste separation, plastics, and PET recycling. This dedicated group of over 40 employees from the company’s Saraburi and Bangkok branches will become ambassadors, bringing their newly acquired knowledge to educate students in schools supported by Crocodile Corporation Company Limited. The goal is to instill and promote waste separation from the source, promoting increased environmental preservation. Through this initiative, Jorakay Corporation is taking actionable steps towards sustainability and community engagement.


Proactive CSR team educates head office employees on waste separation and recycling practices

The CSR team spearheaded a PET recycling education program for the organization’s employees. This event aimed to deepen their understanding of social responsibility initiatives while introducing the PET sorting and recycling knowledge promotion project. The program’s goal is to reinforce the significance of the initiatives and their alignment with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)’s efforts to educate teachers and students on proper waste separation, substantially reducing the BMA’s waste management costs. Furthermore, it demonstrates how sorting PET contributes crucially to the circular economy. Educating employees is critical, as they represent the organization and can disseminate and apply this newfound knowledge within their families and communities. This approach establishes a powerful tool for spreading awareness and promoting a culture of sustainability beyond the organization.


Train the Trainer workshop – empowering teachers to become PET trainers

Indorama Ventures organized a Train the Trainer workshop for Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) schools to promote sustainable PET plastic management, enhance teaching efficiency, develop the potential of teachers, and improve waste management in schools.

Teachers play an essential role in driving and achieving change within schools and the program introduced new tools and techniques for more active learning, including the learning management system Canvas, empowering educators with innovative methods. In addition to encouraging sustainable PET plastic management, the goal was to provide teachers with relevant information and a better understanding of proper plastic management. This workshop offered a variety of teaching tools such as leaflets, posters, worksheets, and resources available on websites and YouTube. This, in turn, will help teachers save time and money in obtaining educational materials.

Mr. Pornphrom Vikitsreth, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the significant financial burden imposed by waste management on the city. He emphasized the immense costs associated with waste disposal and urged greater efforts in waste reduction and recycling to allocate resources more effectively towards education, public health, and other essential services. He noted that Indorama Ventures is part of a robust private sector network that trains teachers and students at Bangkok-affiliated schools, aligning with Bangkok’s policy recommendations for reducing and managing waste separation at the source. Forty BMA instructors from twenty schools attended the seminars, which encouraged collaboration and the implementation of projects that benefit both citizens and the environment.


Indorama Ventures pushes waste reduction through community training in Nikhom Phatthana subdistrict

Indorama Ventures conducted a lecture on waste segregation at the Nikhom Phatthana Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Rayong province. This initiative trained the community and nearby companies on household waste segregation, promoting increased awareness while encouraging community participation in waste reduction and environmental conservation. Over 70 interested participants attended the training session. The objective was to empower community members with the necessary knowledge and understanding for effective waste segregation, enabling them to reduce the volume of waste and preserve the environment by correctly reusing materials and separating waste.


Sansiri partners with Indorama Ventures to promote waste management and recycling initiatives

Sansiri, Thailand’s largest developer of upmarket condominiums and houses, partnered with Indorama Ventures to deliver a training session on waste management and the importance of recycling PET materials. The training session focused on instilling knowledge and awareness about sustainable waste practices among hotel, mall, and property business leaders, as well as Sansiri personnel. The event was hosted at Siri Campus and drew 72 enthusiastic participants eager to learn about effective waste management, particularly concerning plastics, and the importance of recycling PET. Employees will apply their newly acquired expertise across different business groups, helping to expand awareness about recycling and environmental issues while reducing waste.

Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited was invited to conduct a “Train the Trainer” session on “Waste Separation and General Knowledge of Recycling” for Kiatnakin Phatra’s employee volunteers. The training, held at the bank’s head office on March 19, 2024, equipped participants with knowledge about plastic waste separation and PET recycling, enabling them to share this expertise with students in Ratchaburi province. To ensure accurate and easily communicable understanding, the team organized workshops where employees could practice, discuss, and clarify their questions regarding waste separation and effective plastic management. Empowering Thailand’s teachers to advance waste management education.

The CSR department has been organizing school roadshows since 2018 to educate students about waste separation and PET recycling. Proudly taking one step forward in their efforts, the team, in partnership with the Education Bureau under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), organized a workshop on February 8 to develop teaching plans to promote plastic waste management at primary, elementary and secondary school level, and provide content and activity materials for classroom use.

The workshop was attended by 27 educators and specialists from the BMA's Education Bureau, who play a key role in developing the BMA curriculum. Participants were divided into groups based on school level to brainstorm how materials can be integrated into the respective teaching plans.

Going forward, the plans will be reviewed and validated by educational experts, where after it will be distributed to teachers in 437 BMA schools within this year. This will help us establish a network of teachers to advocate for our recycling education programs.
