Indorama Ventures, in partnership with the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education for Sufficiency Philosophy Economy for Sustainability (SEAMEO SEPS) and UNESCO Associated School Network in Southeast Asia, launched a 9-month program in May 2023, to raise awareness on environmental issues, waste management, and the circular economy through activities in schools and communities.

This initiative included several elements. Indorama Ventures was part of hosting a webinar on International Environmental Day under the theme of "Waste Hero" Beat Plastic Pollution on 5 June 2023, where more than 2,440 participants from 19 countries joined during the live session. Additionally, the company was involved in hosting master training sessions among teachers and students by utilizing the Waste Hero resources in six countries: Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Malaysia through virtual platforms and hybrid workshops.

Indorama Ventures also co-campaigned the Waste Hero Challenge Awards, which was divided into three categories: School, Student, and Teacher level. More than 1,000 entries were received from interested educators and students. The winners from several Southeast Asian countries were recognized at the award ceremony in Bangkok, which was held on 29 November as part of the SEAMEO High Officials Meeting (SEAMEO HOM), an annual forum for Vice Ministers, Director Generals, and senior officials of the Ministries of Education of 11 Southeast Asian Countries to discuss collaborative programs for developing education on a regional level. The remarkable Southeast Asian Waste Hero Awards was the main agenda where the winners represent idea generation, creativity, and the integration of the Waste Hero concept into practical initiatives that create a genuinely positive impact in schools and local communities. Success cases and best practices from these winners will be shared in an upcoming webinar.

This collaboration demonstrates the company's commitment to educating 1 million people globally on recycling and waste management by 2030 through the Waste Hero global teaching resources.
